COLORGUARD

WGI WORLD CHAMPHIONSHIPS - BRONZE MEDALISTS!!!!

WGASC CHAMPIONS!!!!

Congratulations to the colorguard for a tremendous

week at the world championships in Dayton, Ohio.  The guard won the bronze medal in the Scholastic A division and has been bumped to Open for next year.  This accomplishment was the result of tremendously hard work from the staff, parents, and especially the students.  The seniors have taken this group from a novice level to a world championship level in four years.  Everybody should be proud of this amazing achievement.  This year's other awards include the gold medals at the WGASC championships, the WBA marching band championship in Fresno, CA, a 1st place at the WGI Southern California Regional in Riverside, CA, and a 1st place at the WGI Southwest Regional in Las Vegas, NV.  For a group that didn't exist 5 years ago, these are tremendous accomplishments.  Great job to everyone.

2002 Music - From Stravinsky's Firebird Suite

The Aliso Niguel High School Colorguard is in its 5th year of existence under the direction of Dean McElroy, and are coached by Frank DeLaRosa, Don Gallaher, Kelly Kendal, and Colleen Black.

Aliso's colorguard has been growing in size and quality every year.  In 2000, they were gold medalists in the regional AA division in WGASC.  In 2001, they came in 4th place at three WGI regionals (So. Cal, Southwest, West) in the Scholastic 'A' division, and won the bronze medal in the National 'A' division at the WGASC Championships.

This year's accomplishments include a 1st place at the Western Band Association A/AA Marching Band Championships in Fresno this Fall, a 1st place finish at the Winter Guard International Southern California regional at Riverside in February, and a 1st place finish at the WGI Southwest regional at Las Vegas in March.  They are the first CUSD to win a WGI regional.  Currently, the colorguard has the highest score in the nation.  In April they will be traveling to Dayton, Ohio to make their first appearance at the Winter Guard International World Championships.  As of March 10th, they are the #1 seed out of about 150 of the top colorguards in the nation that will be competing at World Championships

Please check out our scrapbooks.  If you have pictures you would like to see on the website, please follow the "contact Mr. McElroy" link to the left, and attach a file.
